Originally established in 1961 as Hoff & Associates, the company was re-incorporated in November of 1982 as Liebel and Merle Sales, Inc. The agency was managed by Jerry Liebel and Fred Merle. After Jerry’s retirement in the early 1990’s, Fred directed the multi-person agency for several years.

On March 1, 2000, Fred retired and Michael Charland became the owner. Michael has a Master of Science Degree in Manufacturing Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. Michael has many years of industrial experience working for various Fortune 100 companies as an engineer. Liebel and Merle Sales also acquired another manufacturer’s rep agency, Penfield Plastics, Inc., in January 2001.
